Research Background
Gonzalez’s research focuses on political representations of migrants, and ethnic and religious minorities in the U.S., Mexican, and Turkish media. His interests look at rhetoric used in popular and political media outlets to depict minorities, political violence, censorship, and death.
Gonzalez’s research is published in International Relations (University of Pennsylvania), Education (Educational Researcher), and Communication journals such as Democratic Communiqué and The Howard Journal of Communications. He has also presented his research at academic conferences throughout California, and in Chicago, Seattle, and New York. His research has received funding from U.C. Berkeley, San Francisco State University, New York University, the University of Southern California, and the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
